There are numerous reasons you basement could get water damage, from the overflow of a sump pump in one area of the basement to an overflow of rain that has somehow soaked the entire floor. Flooded basement cleanup will be a long, mess process, so roll up your sleeves and prepare to take action before mold covers the area and you have a much bigger problem which could put your health in danger.

If you simply don't have the money for that or feel it is a job you can handle, then start right away by removing any items that are already starting to form mold or which have been damaged beyond repair.

This part of flooded basement cleanup will require a little money out of your pocket, but do not be tempted to skip it. It is crucial to pull up the carpet and not allow it to dry on the floor. Whatever flooring is underneath will need to be dried out and cleaned up as well. Besides, you will have an awful smell if you don't do this.

You will have to ventilate the area and find a mild bleach cleaner to scrub down the floor and any wall areas that may have been damaged. This is the hard work involved with flooded basement cleanup.

Once again, flooded basement cleanup requires a little out of pocket expense but it is important to get a good cleaning solution with enough bleach or you will likely have an even bigger problem to deal with later on.
