How To Dress Your Body Figure

      By: Art Gib

Whether you shop at mall department stores, thrift markets, or high-fashion women's boutiques, the key to finding great clothes is all about the fit. Each woman will have one of several different body shapes, and the wide variety of shapes possible means that women frequently have to spend hours and hours shopping in order to find the right style and fit of clothing that will look good on their specific figures.

However, women can save time, as well as stress, if they analyze their body type and learn to look for clothes that they know will look good on them. This is exactly what personal stylists and fashion experts do when they create outfits and wardrobes that make individuals look the best they can in the clothes they wear.

For instance, women who are pear shaped, meaning their hips and thigh are bigger in comparison to their chest and shoulders, should wear clothes that emphasize their top halves and deemphasize their bottom halves in order to create the illusion of a balanced figure. Strapless shirts or dresses with lower-cut necklines tend to look good on pear shapes as they draw attention to the upper half of the body and widen the shoulder. Wide-leg trousers and longer, dark-colored skirts help slenderize the bottom half.

Apple-shaped women, on the other hand, have average-sized chests and legs but a larger, rounder midsection. Although many of these women wear large clothing in an attempt to hide their midsections, most would look much better if they wore clothing that helped emphasize the smaller parts of their body. For instance, shirts that emphasize the bust line, such as v-necks, and tailored jackets look great on apple-shaped women. Flat-fronted skirts and pants, as well as skirts that show some leg and low heels, will also look good.

Women who are top-heavy often experience difficulties when shopping for clothes. Tops that are fitted with sweetheart necklines are a great way to minimize the bust and create a more balanced look. Also, wearing flare-legged pants and shoes that are substantial (nothing to high-heeled or strappy) can help balance out the figure and make a woman look less top-heavy.

And finally, hourglass figures have the luxury of not having to worry about hiding any part of their body. Women with hourglass shapes usually have large busts, small waists, and large hips. They should generally wear fitted clothing that emphasizes their curves. Simple clothing is usually best for the hourglass figure as big decorations, frills, and bows typically upset the balance of her shape.
