Where to Get Ideas for Ebook Publishing

      By: Jeff D McQueen

Before a writer can look into the option of doing ebook publishing, instead of going through the traditional method and submitting the manuscript to a publishing house, he must first consider on what topic he should write about. Many writers may have a storehouse of topics waiting to be written, but there are those that get stumped.

Below are some simple tips to get them started:
There's the time-honored advice of writing what one knows. One source of this is the occupation that one is in. It is a given that a person knows what his job is all about and can write something about it. Another source of ideas may be one's family life.

Ebook publishing, just like the traditional one exists to give readers some help on how to deal with common problems, to educate them, or to entertain them. If you have enough knowledge, skills and experience to fill these needs, then you have enough material to fill the pages of an ebook.

You can also keep abreast of current events and the constantly evolving interests of your target audience. These are the people who will be buying your ebooks so if you get to know their tastes and preferences, then you can have a leverage when deciding on what to write that can strike their fancy. For instance, if you wish to target teens, then you ought to know that what makes them tick now is a little different to what made you or your parents tick when you were at their age.
While it helps to do some research or check what other books are being written in your preferred area of interest, it might not be a good idea to write something for ebook publishing when there is a glut of that topic in the market. Either you make a creative twist of what is available or drop the topic altogether and look for other interesting ideas. The goal is to give your readers something that is fresh and not merely jumping on the bandwagon of what is existing in the market.

When all else fails, there is always fiction. If your strength lies not in giving advice to other people's problems or what you know may not be unique enough, you can also just dream up of story lines that may be suitable for ebook publishing. Again, knowing your target audience's taste in fiction can also motivate them to purchase your ebook over the others; it would help if you direct your stories towards what they are going through in real life at their age.

Ebook publishing may sound like an exciting method of getting your voice be heard and just like traditional publishing, it also starts not only with an interesting idea but one that you know would sell
